• Explore your broad topic

• Find related subtopics that interest you

• Identify problems 

• Choose a subtopic for the focus of your bill

• Think about a solution or bill you could write

• Research log - have one person in the group copy and share this with the others

• Pin down a subtopic and define the problem you hope to solve.

Day 2: GATHER YOUR RESEARCH

• Open your shared Research Log

• State the problem you want your bill to address.

• State how your bill will address the problem.

• Begin research. Look for:

  • • Current legislation/bills relating to your subtopic

    • Fact-based evidence

    • Expert opinions

    • Direct quotations

    • Opposing viewpoints or hurdles/barriers
