How to sleep.
Written by someone who can’t sleep.
So, there are many reasons why a person can’t sleep.
Whether it’s because of a mental thing, or you just had caffeine right before bed (that’s stupid, don’t do that.) I’m gonna help you out.
There are a few things to do before bed that could help you sleep properly. Here they are:
Set up a schedule and a routine for your bedtime.
Make sure you aren’t hungry before bed, but don’t eat too much.
Limit how much you sleep in the day, if you sleep too much in the day, you won’t be able to sleep at night.
If you have a specific mental condition, (e.g. insomnia) you can get special sleeping medication prescribed for you, to help you sleep.
Make sure you aren’t stressed before you sleep. This could mean talking things out with someone, or just writing it down in a journal. However you calm down, just make sure you’re calm before you try to sleep.
OK, you’re gonna hate this one, but no electronics before bed. (maybe leave it for about an hour) If you need things to do in a screen free hour (or more - but I doubt it.) You can always read, play a game (not online - duh.) or just sit there and contemplate life.
OK, final step now. Create a good environment. For example, make sure your room isn’t too hot or cold, make sure your bed is comfy, and make sure it’s dark enough for you to sleep.
I hope these work, if not, check out the NHS website, that’s where I got most of the information here.
The Sapindaceae fruits
The lychee is a part of the Sapindadaceae family. It grows on a Xiyuangualu tree, commonly called a Lychee tree. It’s a tropical tree native to South China, Malaysia and North Vietnam. It’s a good source of Vitamin C and also contains fibre, vitamins and minerals.
The ackee, also known as acki, or akee apple is the national fruit of Jamaica. It is part of the Sapindaceae family. Lychee and Longan are both members of this family. Ripe ackee fruit is eaten as food in Jamaica but unripe ackee apples are very poisonous. This is why most ackee products have been banned from import into the USA for the last 30 years.
The Rambutan is also part of the Sapindaceae family, and is very similar to lychee. It’s native to Southeast Asia, being grown and farmed in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Rambutans are high in fibre, vitamins, and minerals. However, rambutan is abundant in natural sugars and may raise blood sugar levels. Thus it is safe to consume only 5-6 per day.
Longan
Dimocarpus longan, commonly known as the longan and dragon's eye, is also a part of the Sapidaceae family. It originates from China, and is grown and cultivated in the Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan, Taiwan, Sichuan, and Yunnan provinces. Longan fruit is low in calories and is healthy

CFS Murals
Over the last couple of weeks some of the Y10 pupils have been renovating the walls around the stairwells in CFS. The painting below the windows was made by the previous year(s), and is just being finished off, and the top section above the windows is the part that the current Y10 pupils have been working on. We look forward over the next couple of weeks to the finished product!
