Aiden's Opinion on Art - Modern vs Older
Some people think that modern art is better than older art, others think the opposite and everyone else doesn't care.
Some people think that modern art isn’t all that bad, they would think that art is just supposed to be an expression of oneself and that art shouldn't just be supposed to look good.
Other people think that older art is better, they think that art can have some meaning behind it but shouldn't be completely about the underlying meaning.
Most people think modern art is and interesting, and think that people should be able to enjoy doing it as a hobby or outlet.
I personally believe that older art is better. It's not abstract art even though it still has some abstract elements sometimes. A lot of old art are portraits rather than splashes of paint. However, you should still appreciate modern art. Modern art is different to older art because of the invention of photography. They could no longer continue doing their old style because they looked too similar. So you have to appreciate the innovation and creativity that modern artists have.

The Lorax - A Review - Lily Johnson
The Lorax (released in 2012) is a film about A 12 year old boy called Ted, (Voiced by Zac Efron) searching for trees to win the heart of his crush Audrey (Voiced by Taylor Swift). But along the way he finds out about what actually happened to the trees from a mysterious man living in the middle of nowhere. All while bursting into song every now and then.
As we follow along the film we are introduced to new characters, one of the main ones being the Lorax (voiced by Danny Devito). We also see some things turn out to be not as we expect, and it makes us wonder whether the hero of the film is able to save the day.
Ok, but why should I watch it?
The Lorax has a very charming style of animation and humour. It’s one of my favourite films, because the Music is enjoyable, and the plot is actually interesting to learn about.
I asked some people what their opinions are about the film The Lorax, here's what they said:
‘It’s a really good film, and it presents in a family friendly way what's happening with climate change and the planet, that’s overlooked by todays society.’ - Anonymous.
Unfortunately, Not everyone liked it.
‘ I think it was rubbish, written by wannabe environmentalists.’ - Anonymous.
According to imdb Its rated 6.4/10 stars.
It also has some good Christian messages, for example its a film about environmental change, so it does show how to take care of God’s creation, and our home, Earth.
Personally, I would recommend the film for all ages to watch, especially if you want to keep the whole family entertained.

Ever wanted to try sword fighting?
Do you like action? Perhaps a fan of Star Wars? I’m sure many of you have at least fantasised once about duelling with blades. If so, then this week’s hobby recommendation would be for you.
What is fencing?
Fencing is a sport with a rich history, derived from military training, becoming a sport in the 14th or 15th century in both Germany and Italy. It requires great reflexes, timing and speed.
It is divided into 3 different categories, each with their own unique weapons and rules. The foil is a thrusting weapon, with only the torso as its target area. The epee is also a thrusting weapon, but with the entire body as the target area. The sabre allows for cutting and thrusting, meaning you can score with any part of the blade, with the target area being the upper part of the body, including the mask.

Fun Facts
Fencing suits are white because, in earlier times, touching was recorded with ink on the tip of the swords.
The tip of the fencing weapon is the second fastest moving object in sport; the first is the marksman’s bullet.
At least one ancient Egyptian temple features a painting of a fencing match. The painting dates back to 1190 BC.10

Do you have any problems, with school, Upcoming assesments or stress? Need Advice?
Email lc.25@cfschool.org.uk To feature in our advice column! (If you end up in the newspaper it will be anonymous.)
We decided to interview a year 10 student, Serena Lloyd. We interviewed her on CFS and Upperschool
How do you manage your homework?
I like to get it done on the day it’s set. It’s extremely helpful, and lowers the stress. I try to get as much as I can in school, either in SUS or on the way home.
What’s your favourite lesson and why?
My favourite lesson is SUS because it has a relaxed environment and I can study at my own pace
What activities do you do outside of school?
I do aerial silks. I also play the keyboard in the worship band
Do you have a favourite bible verse?
My favourite bible verse is 2 Timothy 1:7 ‘For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’ I like it because when i’m feeling anxious, it helps me to remember that god is with me
What advice would you give to children in lower years?
My advice would be; don't stress too much about your studies. Try to focus on having a good time and being in the moment. Don’t worry about what tomorrow brings. Leave that to god and focus on school one step of a time
How have you grown in upper school?
I have grown a lot as a person in upper school. I have learned to be more confident and confront people. I’ve also learned to manage the workload. I initially was going to do a lot of extra subjects, but instead I narrowed it down so I wasn’t taking on too much work. I manage my workload by getting it done whenever I can, and take advantage of the free time I have. I like to get it done before I do other activities
What aspect of CFS do you find most challenging?
The aspect I find most difficult about CFS is the workload during exam week. We have to do a lot of revision, and there’s a lot more work to do.
What is your favourite aspect about CFS?
My favourite aspect of CFS is the community. It’s a christian community, and I like that. I feel like I can talk to older people, and everyone’s really friendly. There’s also lots of opportunities to help out and serve the community.
What are your plans for the future?
After I leave CFS I plan to grow in my faith, and go into a career that I enjoy and can benefit other people.

As of September 20th, this is how the league table stands:
Manchester City have had a really good season, with the last 5 matches all being wins, and they are currently 1st on the table with 15 points.
Tottenham and Liverpool have very similar results, with the last 5 matches being 4 wins and 1 draw. Their goal difference and points are also the same. Tottenham only make second on the table from the GF (the amount of goals they scored) this season.
Arsenal and Brighton complete the top 5, with Arsenal in 4th and Brighton in 5th.
In the relegation zone we have Everton, Burnley and Luton Town, all who have had rough starts to this season. None of these three teams have had anything better than a draw, and Luton have had all losses so far.
It is, of course, early on in the season, and we look forward to seeing how each team will do. Who do you think will be relegated, and who do you think will go to the Champions League group stage?
