Formative assessment is a range of formal and informal assessment procedures conducted by teachers during the learning process in order to modify teaching and learning activities to improve student attainment. Keep in mind, not all formative assessment needs to be graded. It is a wonderful tool to help you see where your class is, and guide your next lessons to make sure students are where they need to be! Check out the links below to find some great resources to use in your classroom. [p.s. these are all free, I love free!]
Mentimeter allows you to engage and interact with your target audience in real-time. It is a polling tool wherein you can set the questions and your target audience can give their input using a mobile phone or any other device connected to the Internet. I love Mentimeter to get ideas from my students on what they understood or needed more time on.
EDpuzzle allows users to select a video and customize it by editing, cropping, recording audio, and adding questions to make an engaging presentation or lesson. I would venture to say, most teachers use YouTube in some form or fashion to share info. EdPuzzle allows you to take a video, stop it and add narration wherever you want, ask questions where need be, and the list goes on. Best of all? It works seamlessly with Google Classroom.
