hey, y'all!

My husband Joe and I have been married for 17 years! He is a former teacher/football coach, who now works the oil fields of West Texas! Our son is starting his 9th grade year (here at Cy-Fair!), while our daughter will be starting the 6th grade. Our best quarantine purchase was our newest family member...a french bulldog puppy named Jax! During the week, you can find us running in 10 different directions going to football, 4-H, or basketball games. I taught Animation, Digital Media, Accounting, and/or Global Business for 14 years at Cypress Ridge High School before coming to Cy-Fair High School. I am starting my 4th year at Cy-Fair High School as a Campus Instructional Coach that supports our CTE programs, Social Studies, and Health/PE. I am one of the content creators for the Cy-Fair High School social media accounts, so that we can keep our community connected to the campus. My goal on campus is to serve and support our staff and students!

why technology/social media?

During my years of teaching technology to my students, I found it to be one of my goals to stay 'in tune' with where my students were. I'd find myself sometimes watching the popular teen shows, to help form relationships with students in my class. During that time, educational technology has exploded! For the last 4 or 5 years, I have been able to attend the TCEA Conference in Austin, Texas where my love for EdTech has grown. Educational Technology serves to help teachers reach their students, helps make your teaching life a little easier, and makes you more relevant to your students. We have to come to terms with the growth of technology in education, and find a way to implement a small piece in our classrooms. Social Media is only a piece of this puzzle, but serves to get information out there to your students and their parents. It is also a major platform for building a personal learning network that helps you grow as an educator! We all know teachers love to share! Why not share and learn from teachers all over the country, and the world! If you're uncomfortable or unsure of how to use social media for your classroom, just ask...I love to serve and help teachers!
