Try-out Dates

Tryouts for current 9th-11th graders for the 2026-2027 season will begin on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2026 in the performance gym.

Mandatory events:

Pick up a tryout packet from Coach Barksdale in room 2606 or Coach Nguyen in room 2210 starting on February 2nd, 2026
Try-out packets, Rank One, and your physical are due to Coach Barksdale in room 2606 or Coach Nguyen in room 2210 by Feb. 18th, 2026
Attend the mandatory parent meeting on February 25th, 2026 from 6-7:30 pm in CRHS's cafeteria.
Attend Clinic on March 2nd- 5th at Cypress Ridge in the gyms.

What should I have done before tryouts:

Pick up a tryout packet from Coach Barksdale in 2606 or Coach Nguyen in 2210.
Sign up for the sportsyou:
Turn in signature page by Feb. 18th to Coach Barksdale in 2606 or Coach Nguyen in 2210.
Turn in all Rank One forms online and a physical copy of your physical to Coach Barksdale in room 2606 by Feb. 18th, 2026
Clear all fees & fines by Feb. 18th, 2026
Pay the $15 judging fee to Coach Barksdale (rm. 2606) by Feb. 24th, 2026
Be passing all classes on Feb. 18th, 2026 (grades will be pulled at 2:40 pm)
Attend the mandatory parent meeting on February 25th 2026, from 6:00-7:30 pm

Monday March 2nd, 2026

Clinic will be held in the Performance gym starting at 3:00 p.m. and going until 4:30 p.m. We will teach the dance and cheer during this time. Clinic practices are mandatory to try-out.

Tuesday March 3rd, 2026

Clinic will be held in the Performance gym starting at 3:00 p.m. and going until 4:30 p.m. We will teach the dance, cheer, and jumps during this time. Clinic practices are mandatory to try-out.

Wednesday March 4th, 2026

Clinic will be a mock try-out held in the performance gym. We will walk through all candidates on the try-out process and expectations. Following the mock try-out, we will have open gym in the performance gym. This will go from 3:00 to 4:30 pm.

Clinic information

What to wear:

A t-shirt, sports bra, and athletic shorts (no spandex).

All hair must be pulled back and out of the candidate's face.

No jewelry- this includes body piercings.

*Candidates that were a part of a previous years team are not allowed to wear Cypress Ridge Cheer gear, excluding past cheer shoes.

**Clinics are a closed event. That means that no parents, friends, etc. will be allowed in the athletic wing during any part of the clinic process.

Thursday March 6th, 2025

All candidates will be asked to report to the 2nd gym by 2:55 pm. Candidates will try-out in numerical order (numbers will be drawn at random, and given out on Wednesday March 4th).

What to wear:

Candidates should wear a plain shirt (no tank tops), athletic shorts (no spanks), and tennis shoes/cheer shoes.

All candidates must pull their hair back and out of their face.
No piercings/jewelry--> This includes body piercings.

Tryout Results- Candidates

Tryout results will be announced on Friday, March 6th, 2026 around 3:00 pm on the homepage of this website. The team will be announced using their tryout numbers. Please make sure you and the candidate know their number.

Tryout Results- Guardians

Following the posting of the results, guardians of candidates who made the team will receive an email from Coach Barksdale and Coach Nguyen about a new team meeting and the practice schedule for March and April 2026.
