CLASS Project

CLASS Project

CLASS Project is a collaboration between the New Hanover County Public Library and local schools to provide students with easier access to valuable library resources from home, at school, and at any NHC Public Library branch.

Your child’s student ID number is a “virtual library card number” which can be used to access public library materials and services. Just type in the student ID number any time you’re asked for a library card number. A few NHCPL services require a PIN in addition to a card number; the default PIN is the last 4 digits of the student ID number.

For students/guardians to login:

  • When asked for a library card number, enter student ID number (PowerSchool number - 13 digits)

  • When asked for a PIN, enter the last 4 digits of same student ID number

How does CLASS Project Work?

Students can:

  • Borrow e-books and access library databases and digital resources just like any other New Hanover County Public Library card with access to over 100 databases, including eResources

  • Borrow up to 2 print books, audiobooks, or magazines at a time from any NHC Public Library by providing their student ID number to library staff at the checkout desk or when placing books on Hold for pick-up

  • Use the computers in any NHC Public Library branch to complete homework, check Google Drive folders for their classes, and access additional NHC Public Library resources

No fines will be issued for items returned late that were borrowed using a CLASS Project account, however the student’s borrowing privileges will be suspended until all items are returned.
