How does your donation Make a Difference?

Donations of money to Caring for Bethlehem, Inc. help support local programs that serve those in need in the Bethlehem community. A small portion of donations received helps to cover the minimal operating costs of Caring for Bethlehem.

The Board of Directors regularly disperses money from the CFB General Fund to where it is needed most. Primarily supporting the Bethlehem Food Bank, the Bethlehem Comfort Closet, the Bethlehem Assistance Fund, and the Bethlehem Fuel Bank, the Directors strive to maximize the impact of all donations.

The Bethlehem Food Bank & the Bethlehem Comfort Closet provide food and personal-care items to Bethlehem residents in need.

Shelves are stocked through donations of money, nonperishable foods, personal-care items, and fresh seasonal produce from the Bethlehem Community Garden as well as through fundraising events and local food drives.

The volunteer team managing the food bank are committed to providing a range of healthy food options to our most vulnerable families in a manner that respects their privacy and dignity.

As an addition to the Food Bank, the Bethlehem Comfort Closet provides items such as dental care items, soap and shampoo, household cleaning and paper products, feminine and elder hygiene products, and other items necessary for personal care.

The Bethlehem Fuel Bank provides for emergency fuel assistance and heating system repairs.

The Bethlehem Assistance Fund provides for basic assistance with small household needs such as window repairs, an overdue electric bill, septic problems, new tires, and much more.

The Assistance Committee of Caring for Bethlehem receives emergency calls and applications for assistance. Using a set of protocols, guidelines, and vetting procedures developed under the direction of the Board of Directors, this volunteer Committee secures services and allocates funds to assist those in need, making payments directly to approved service providers.

The Assistance Committee also educates clients and directs them to other sources of assistance through local, state, and federal governments as well as other area charitable organizations.

The Bethlehem Scholarship Fund provides educational scholarships for graduating Bethlehem high school seniors.

The Scholarship Committee seeks applications from graduating seniors and distributes financial assistance directly to those who qualify based on need and merit.

Donations to the Clothing Bank Fund fund are managed by Caring for Bethlehem and expended as needed in collaboration with the Prince of Peace Clothing Bank to meet special clothing needs.
