Purchase your Device

You can purchase your device from any location, here we have two options that you can use to get education pricing and linked directly to the school suggested devices.

PLEASE NOTE - AS OF 2023 YEAR 7 STUDENTS WILL BE ASSIGNED A SCHOOL LOANED DEVICE.  THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT FOR YEAR 7 PURCHASE THEIR DEVICES

Option 1 - JBHifi Portal

Linked is the parent portal for Kolbe students - please use the tabs to navigate to your correct year group and select a suggested device.

Option 2 - Apple Store

The Apple Education Store will give you a discount on the purchase price of your iPad.

Parental Control

It is important that as a parent, you feel you understand how and when the device should be used. Correct setup and management of the MacBook or iPad will support you at home, and our teachers at school.

Please use the information on this site to help in your choice of iPad or MacBook, so your son or daughter can get the most from the device and use it as a tool that is focused squarely for learning.

Middle School requirements (Years 8, and 9) 

It is a requirement that all Middle School students will have their own iPads. The iPad must meet the minimum requirements outlined below.

Middle School students must use:

• An iPad or iPad Pro (optionally with keyboard) Ideally an iPad 9th generation with Apple Pencil.

Senior School requirements (Years 10,11, and 12)

We encourage all students to update  their device every 3 years. Therefore, when students reach the Senior School it is appropriate to do it then.  This ensures that the latest operating system and apps are being used and the learning tools are all up to date.

Senior School students can use either:

• An iPad or iPad Pro (optionally with keyboard/Apple Pencil) or a

• MacBook

Please be sure that your iPad meets these minimum requirements:

• An iPad, or iPad Pro 9th generation minimum  (An iPad Mini is not suitable).

• Apple Pencil or stylus.

• Keyboard is optional depending on student preference.

• Minimum 32GB capacity.

• Updated to the latest operating system.

• WI-FI capabilities only (a 3G  or 4G model is not recommended).

• A sturdy cover or case that provides excellent protection.

Note that all 2023 Year 7, 8  and 9 students will have their iPads 'managed' by the school, and all apps will be free.

Macbook Specifications

Please make sure that your MacBook supports the latest version of MacOS.  Any of these is acceptable:

• MacBook

• MacBook Pro

• MacBook Air

Strongly Recommended:  AppleCare+  

Protects you for two incidents of accidental damage. 

AppleCare+ for iPad provides up to two years of expert telephone technical support and additional hardware coverage from Apple, including up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a A$65 service fee. This is a viable alternative to including the iPad under an existing insurance policy.

Kolbe Catholic College can not be held responsible for loss or damage of a student's device. It is important that parents check that the device is correctly insured.
