My videos aren't working
My videos aren't working
After you accept an invitation to Google Classroom, Dr. Baragar needs to sync Google Classroom and Ed Puzzle. After she completes the sync, you will be able to view the instructional videos.
Do we have to watch the videos?
Yes, you must watch the videos. Ed Puzzle will show Dr. Baragar which videos you have watched, which you have not watched, and how far you watched them. Additionally, there are questions embedded in the videos that you need to respond to. There are printed transcripts included for students who like to follow along on with text, but they are not a replacement for the videos, they are an addition to the course materials to try to support all types of learners.
There may be a point after you have completed a couple courses where Dr. Baragar will reach out to you via email to reduce this restriction, but until you hear directly from her, you must watch the videos in order to receive the credit for the course.
Was my password changed?
No. Your password has not been changed since school ended. CESD does the annual student password change at the end of January each year. Your password has NOT been changed since you left school at the end of June.
Do we have assignment deadlines?
You have one deadline only.
July 24.
All work needs to be completed by 11:59pm on July 25, 2026 as the grades MUST be loaded into Alberta Education’s database on July 26.
Can we have any extensions on the deadline?
This is kind of a two-part answer.
To earn the Chromebook? No. Deadlines cannot be extended in this case.
To earn the credit for the module in progress? If you find yourself in this position, please reach out to Dr. Baragar directly, as it may be possible to still receive the credit for the work in progress.
What is the Jumpstart AI Chatbot?
That chatbot is to assist you with questions you may have about the program. Dr. Baragar has hundreds of students in this program, so she can't always respond quickly to questions like "when is the last day?", so that chatbot has been pre-trained for Jumpstart specific questions. It may not provide satisfactory answers to all your questions, and if it give an answer that doesn't seem right, please don't hesitate to email Dr. Baragar.
Do we have classes or Google Meets that we are required to attend?
No. You will be given access to the modules on June 11, and you will work at your own pace. There are no physical or virtual classes to attend.
Do we get the Chromebook if we don't complete 6 modules?
No.
What is the difference between Task-Based and Project-Based modules?
Task-based modules have a number of activities for you to complete, but each one is separate and unique from the others.
Project-based modules are centered around a larger purpose. All the activities in these modules are connected around a common theme.
What do we do when we finish a module?
You can email Dr. Baragar if you wish to notify her. For the first couple weeks, she only grades work once weekly. As the 6 weeks progress, she increases this, as the volume of student submissions increases. She will notify students in Google Classroom or by Email to let you know in advance when she will be grading, so if you want to finish up something before she grades you will have the opportunity to prioritize that.
Each time you successfully complete a course, you will receive an emailed certificate (after Mrs. Baragar has graded your work) notifying you of the course completion.
If we finish less than 6 modules, do we get credits for the ones we have finished?
Yes.
For example, if you complete four modules, you will not receive a Chromebook, but you will have four credits logged toward your grade 12 graduation.
If we need help can we get help?
Absolutely.
Students are always welcome to email Dr. Baragar directly (her email will be provided inside Google Classroom), and responses will be provided directly via email as well.
Finally, if Google Meet is needed as a tool for one-on-one or one-to-many assistance, Dr. Baragar will be available to set up those types of support as well.
What kind of Chromebook will we be provided for High School?
That is a question that can’t be answered at this point in time; the specific model for the Chromebook will be determined based on logistics, availability and other considerations after July 25. Our priority is to try to have the devices arrive in September so that students have them as soon as possible. These factors will come in to play in August when we make the order.
When will we get our Chromebooks?
Dr. Baragar will ensure that they are delivered to schools after September 15. She is as excited to get them to you as you are to receive them, so there will be no delay.
How do we get our credits?
There is nothing you need to do. Dr. Baragar will take care of all that in the same way that your other teachers take care of that when you complete your courses.
Can we take our Chromebooks home?
For the duration of your high school career, this Chromebook will be yours uniquely. You will be expected to take it home and manage the charging, maintenance and good care of the device.
What happens if we move?
If/when you move to a different school district, the Chromebook will remain in CESD.
