GETTING INVOLVED

FIGHTING CANCER on two wheels

How can you help?

Most people are more than willing to help other's out. Below are some simple ways that you, your class, your school or work place can help out The Jimmy's Licorice Allsorts in raising funds for The Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute. These fundraising ideas have been designed to take place either online or at schools and workplaces when COVID restrictions allow. All contributions can be made via the "donate to our cause' button on this website.

Sponsor a Rider or Two!

Your class, staff group, school or work place can sponsor one of our riders for an amount that is appropriate for you. You are more than welcome to sponsor more than one rider too!

Caps on for Cancer Research

Your organisation is invited to host a "Caps on for Cancer Research Day." Participants wear a cap of their choosing for the day. This highlights that the fundraiser is about putting on our "thinking caps" (i.e. encouraging research) regarding cancer. Each member of your group donates a gold coin, to wear their cap for the day. This 'cap wearing"can be in person at the school or work, or via an online meeting platform.

Host a Netflix Party

You and your family with some friends could hold a Netflix movie Marathon. You could watch a movie collection that has a few sequels e.g. Toy Story, Cars, Frozen, or it could be "A night of the classics" e.g. The Sound of Music, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory etc etc. Each family donates an amount and watches the movies from the comfort of their own home!

A coffee for Cancer Research

From now until the date of the ride in April next year one member of your staff group donates the cost of a coffee each week to the fundraiser for The Jimmy's Licorice Allsorts. For example if you have six staff members at your work one member each week donates the cost of a coffee to the fundraiser. Then after six weeks the cycle starts again.

KM's for Cancer Research

Set yourself a kilometre target for a month. This could be done by cycling, walking or running, invite your family and friends to sponsor you if you make the total. This challenge works really well in schools and workplaces. For example classes or individuals in work places could challenge each other to tally the most kilometres. It can also be done 'remotely" without people needing to have "contact"

Licorice Allsorts Cupcakes for Cancer Research

Organise a morning tea where a couple of people bring along cupcakes with a Licorice Allsort on top. These can be shared with staff at a morning tea. Everyone is invited to donate a gold coin to participate. If people cannot gather at work you could have a morning tea via a digital platform, where people have a cupcake and still donate a gold coin.

Chocolate Surprise Raffle

Your class, school or work place could organise a Chocolate Surprise Raffle. Have a basket or box of some kind and set the challenge of your group to fill it up with blocks of chocolate, chocolate bars etc. This is then raffled and the proceeds are donated to help The Jimmy's Licorice Allsorts fundraiser.

Toasties for a Cause

As a family you might have a regular night when you have takeaway or go out for dinner. You could decide to donate the cost of that evenings meal to our fundraiser and instead enjoy a toastie at home together.

The Give it Up for Cancer Research Challenge

There may be some treat that you regularly enjoy - e.g. a bottle of wine, buying a new book, magazine, a subscription e.g Foxtel. You could donate the cost of one of these treats to The Jimmy's Licorice Allsorts fundraiser.

The Birthday Challenge Fundraiser

On your birthday you could donate a dollar for every year of your life to our fundraiser, or alternatively as a staff at your workplace the 'gift' you give each other on your birthday could be $1 for every year of the birthday person's life and contribute these funds to our fundraiser.
