Listed below are the method books that are used in middle school band. Each book contains exercises that are focused on different areas of musicianship and will help to further the playing ability of students.
This method book contains four part chorales that are broken down by soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts. Students will first focus on playing one part together, listening for balance, blend, intonation, rhythms and notes. Then, as parts are learned, the band will be separated into parts, focusing on the same concepts listed above, but now performing multiple lines of music at the same time.
This full band series is designed for the entire band to sightread small exercises that are modeled more like concert band music, with separate melody parts, harmony parts and percussion.
The elementary method reviews what was learned in the beginning book and introduces new concepts.
The intermediate method focuses on alternate fingerings and more complicated rhythms.
The advanced method has multiple sections that are assigned throughout the book that pinpoint certain musical elements for each instrument.
This book introduces the basic double stroke roll and sixteenth rhythms. It also has a mallet section in the back.
This book builds on what was learned in book 1 and includes compound time exercises. It also includes mallet work.
This book is used as a supplement and works on stickings and stick control to help with sixteenth rhythms and rolls
