Timothy Rasinski
Timothy Rasinski is a professor of literacy education at Kent State University. He has written over 200 articles and has authored, co-authored or edited over 50 books or curriculum programs on reading education. He is author of the best selling book on reading fluency entitled The Fluent Reader. His scholarly interests include reading fluency and word study, reading in the elementary and middle grades, and readers who struggle. His research on reading has been cited by the National Reading Panel and has been published in journals such as Reading Research Quarterly, The Reading Teacher, Reading Psychology, and the Journal of Educational Research. Tim is the author of the fluency chapter for Volume IV of the Handbook of Reading Research. In 2010 Tim was elected to the International Reading Hall of Fame.

David Kilpatrick
David A. Kilpatrick, PhD is associate professor of psychology for the State University of New York, College at Cortland. He is a New York State certified school psychologist with 28 years experience in schools. He has been teaching courses in learning disabilities and educational psychology since 1994. David is a reading researcher and the author of two books on reading, Essentials of Assessing, Preventing, and Overcoming Reading Difficulties, and Equipped for Reading Success.

Deborah Reed
Deborah K. Reed earned her Ph.D. in special education at the University of Texas at Austin. She spent the first 10 years of her career as a English language arts and reading teacher and pre-kindergarten-12th grade reading specialist. Since 2003, she has been active in the field as a researcher and technical assistance provider. Most recently prior to joining the Iowa Reading Research Center, Dr. Reed has served as an assistant professor at Florida State University and the Florida Center for Reading Research. She has developed numerous instructional materials and professional development programs on evidence-based literacy practices, particularly for middle and high school students. Dr. Reed was awarded the Council for Learning Disabilities’ 2010 Outstanding Researcher of the Year award, served as the chair of that organization’s Research Committee from 2012-2015, and is now the president elect.

Barry Gilmore
Barry Gilmore, Ed.D., taught middle and high school English and social studies for nearly 20 years before taking his current position as a school principal in Memphis, TN. Barry is a National Board Certified teacher and Past-President of the Tennessee Council of Teachers of English. As the author of eight books for teachers, including Academic Moves for College and Career Readiness with Jim Burke, and numerous articles on literacy, he regularly presents his teaching ideas to groups around the country. Gilmore has received numerous honors for his teaching, including the NCTE's Outstanding High School Educator Award, the U.S. Department of Education’s American Star of Teaching Award, and the Tennessee Holocaust Commission’s Educator of the Year. Barry believe in helping teachers help their students to learn through lessons that motivate, engage, and excite a passion for learning.

Antonio Fierro
Antonio A. Fierro, Ed.D. is a former Texas State Teacher of the Year and currently a member of a national cohort of literacy consultants led by Dr. Louisa Moats. Dr. Fierro has over 25 years of experience in the field of education having served as an early childhood ESL/Bilingual teacher, a district ESL/Bilingual specialist, a state master trainer of the Texas Reading Academies, and a senior reading analyst with Reading First. Dr. Fierro has been a contributing author to several literacy curricula focusing on instruction for the English learner and the foundational skills of reading. His areas of interest include early childhood education, literacy instruction, and research and practices that impact students learning English as a second language. Dr. Fierro is also dedicated to advancing the knowledge base and understanding of dyslexia and other reading disabilities as his teenage son is dyslexic.

Berit Gordon
Berit Gordon is the author of No More Fake Reading: Merging the Classics with Independent Reading to Create Joyful, Lifelong Readers. She began her career as an educator in the Dominican Republic before teaching in New York City public schools. She also taught at the Teachers College of Columbia University in English Education. She currently works as a literacy consultant in grades 3-12 and lives in Maplewood, New Jersey with her husband and three children.
