WHO IS THE ELCA?
With almost 3.3 million members spread throughout more than 8,900 worshiping congregations in all 50 states and the Caribbean, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is one of the biggest Christian denominations in the country.
They are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God's grace. Liberated by faith, they embrace you as a whole person--questions, complexities and all.
In 1988, the ELCA was created by the union of three Lutheran churches. The American Lutheran Church, the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches, and the Lutheran Church in America were among them.
After 30 years, the ELCA is a church that shares a living, courageous faith in God's grace. As ELCA members, we believe that Christ has set us free to serve and love our neighbor. In the name of Jesus Christ, we use our hands to restore and reconcile communities all around the world.
