Central High School and Central School District are pleased to announce Rick Dormer has accepted the role as high school principal. He will begin serving students, staff, families and the community in the 2025-26 school year.
"I am excited to start building relationships with the staff and to get to know the students," Mr. Dormer said. "I want to get involved in student leadership and check out all of the activities – athletics, band, drama, etc – see what the students put their extra energy into."
Mr. Dormer is coming to Central from Ketchikan High School in Alaska, where he is currently the principal. He also serves as the President of the Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals.

La Preparatoria Central y el Distrito Central se complacen en anunciar que Rick Dormer ha aceptado el puesto de director de la preparatoria. Comenzará a prestar servicios a los estudiantes, el personal, las familias y la comunidad en el año escolar 2025-2026.
"Estoy emocionado de comenzar a establecer relaciones con el personal y conocer a los estudiantes", dijo el Sr. Dormer. "Quiero involucrarme en el liderazgo estudiantil y ver todas las actividades (atletismo, banda, teatro, etc.) y ver en qué ponen los estudiantes su energía adicional".
El Sr. Dormer viene al Distrito Central desde la escuela Preparatoria Ketchikan en Alaska, donde actualmente es el director. También se desempeña como presidente de la Asociación de Directores de Escuelas secundarias de Alaska.
Central School District and Central High School are pleased to welcome Brandis Piper to the team. He will begin work as the high school's new assistant principal/athletic director, replacing Brett Baldwin, who is retiring.
"I'm excited to come to Central because of the community," Mr. Piper said. "It is clear that students, staff, and the community are engaged in the school and genuinely care for one another."

El Distrito Escolar Central y la preparatoria Central se complacen en dar la bienvenida a Brandis Piper al equipo. Comenzará a trabajar como nuevo subdirector y director atlético de la Preparatoria reemplazando a Brett Baldwin, quien se jubilará.

For the 2025-26 school year, Tami Johnson will serve as an assistant principal at Central High School. Roseanna Larson will take her place, serving as the assistant principal at IES.
Ms. Johnson said she is excited about her new position at CHS.
"I have been part of the OSSB (Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy) for many years, and with the work that is being done at CHS, I will have the opportunity to become even more involved."
She added that she is excited to see familiar faces in the freshman class that she saw as 5th graders.
Mrs. Larson is looking forward to being back in a school working directly with students each day.
Ms. Johnson will bring a lot of experience and strengths to Central High School, IES Principal Nicole Smith said.
With Mrs. Larson's knowledge and experience in the district, we are pleased she will support the elementary school as part of the leadership team.
"I'm excited to serve alongside Dr. Smith and all the amazing staff at IES," Mrs. Larson said. "I have enjoyed my current assignment, and truly love creating positive experiences for students and families, which I know I'll be able to continue doing in new ways at IES."
Dr. Smith said she is thrilled to have Mrs. Larson joining the IES community.

Para el año escolar 2025-2026, Tami Johnson será la nueva subdirectora de la Escuela Preparatoria Central. Roseanna Larson ocupará su lugar como subdirectora de la Escuela Primaria de Independence (IES).
La Sra. Johnson dijo que está entusiasmada con su nuevo puesto en CHS.
He formado parte del OSSB (Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe del Estado de Oregón) durante muchos años, y con el trabajo que se está realizando en CHS, tendré la oportunidad de involucrarme aún más.
Agregó que está emocionada de ver caras familiares en la clase de noveno grado que vio cuando estaba en quinto grado.
La Sra. Larson está emocionada de regresar a una escuela y trabajar directamente con los estudiantes todos los días.

The audience of the Central High School auditorium is filled with young students as actors and musicians tell the story of Percy Jackson, the Lightning Thief.
The lights go out. The audience gasps. The spotlight is on the Oracle as she warns Percy about the perils of the quest he is about to undertake.
What the audience doesn't see are the CHS band members, directed by Ed Propst, creating the perfect atmosphere with music. This is the first time in memory that the music, theater, and band teachers and students have teamed up to present a musical.
