Safety Protocols

DAILY PERSONAL SAFETY

  • Parents are encouraged to review the Daily Self-Check questions with their student(s) before coming to school

  • Daily screening of students will occur at entry points as students enter campuses

    • Visual wellness checks and temperature checks with no-touch thermometers

  • Entrance procedures are set up for all campuses

  • Procedures are in place at each site to handle students who are sick

  • Hand Sanitizers will be available at the school entrance, at the entrance of every school floor and in the classrooms

  • In classrooms, gel dispensers will be placed in the school areas where hand washing with water and soap is not possible

FACE COVERINGS AND OTHER ESSENTIAL PROTECTIVE ITEMS

  • CDPH recommends face coverings (or face shields for very young children) at age 2 or older.

  • All staff will wear face coverings.

  • All students in Grade 3 above will be required to wear their own cloth mask or a supplied disposable mask at all times.

  • Students in 2nd grade or lower are strongly encouraged to wear masks.

  • In addition, each school site has a substantial stock of disposable paper face coverings. Classrooms will be equipped with disposable face coverings for student use as needed.

  • Face coverings by students will be worn:

o While waiting to enter the school campus

o While on school grounds (except when eating or drinking)

o While in the classroom

o While leaving school

DISTANCING

  • Physical distancing will be maintained to the extent practicable throughout each site campus.

  • Separate entrance and exit walkways will be used for entrance on campus

  • Visual reminders will be placed around each campus facility.

  • In the classroom ...

    • Teachers desks will be at least six feet away from student desks

    • Students desks will be spaced a minimum of four (4) feet between students to provide appropriate distancing between desks. Desks will aslo be arranged in a way that minimizes face to face contact

    • Plexiglass desk and table shields are also available to provide protection when physical spacing is difficult to attain

    • Extra furniture has been removed to create additional spacing

    • Limit sharing of supplies between students, and if shared will be sanitized between use

  • No visitors or parent helpers will be allowed in the classroom

CLEANING AND DISINFECTING

Cleaning and disinfection of all the school premises are the main actions that, together with social distancing, can help to prevent the spread of the virus.

Cleaning and disinfection protocols have been established in consideration of the enhanced need for prevention. Procedures are in place for cleaning throughout the day by custodial staff.

Custodial staff will daily:

  • Clean High-touch points like door handles, knobs, switches, telephones, keyboards, handrails, desks and chairs

  • Clean Classrooms

      • Daily cleaning and disinfection

      • Utilize Electrostatic disinfection fogger to sanitize classroom furniture/area

  • Clean Bathrooms

Periodic cleaning throughout the day will also be in place.

HEALTHY HYGIENE PRACTICES

  • Stay home if you feel sick

  • Cover nose and mouth with an acceptable face covering when unable to maintain social distance from others

  • Adhere to social distancing instructions

  • Report symptoms of, or exposure to, COVID-19

  • Follow hand hygiene, and cleaning and disinfection guidelines

  • Regularly wash or sanitize hands

  • Follow respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette
