“Elephant Tea”

clay, cutting needle, rib, glaze, slip, and firing.
I first got the idea of doing a tea pot because I love to drink tea. I knew that I wanted to do a teapot but I want to make it fun so I decided to base it off an elephant. I first researched different teapots. After I found the one that I wanted to do I sketch it out. Then I watched a video on how to shape the clay. Then I wrote my steps on how I would construct it. Then I made it. I had a problem with my spout of my teapot staying up. I solved it by propping it up with plastics bags. One risk that I had to take was making two pinch bowls and then slipping them together. I’m glad it didn’t break or get cracked. I like the colors of glaze that I picked and how dark they turned out. I also like how my glaze had some light gray spots. It gives it a cool look. I wish that I could have maybe put feet on the bottom. I think that would have looked cool. I also wish I would have spent a little more time making the lid fit the teapot opening better.
This is my hand for my body of work project. It is a recreation of Tim Tiaudua painting "Desert Tray".
