"Alexis: Gemini"

9X15,” Marker and Black Sharpie, 2018I drew and colored a drawing inspired by my sister and her zodiac sign. She is a Gemini and that is a twin sign, so that it why I drew her two times to show the different aspects of her personality. I intended for it to be abstract because I knew I wanted it to have to colorful background and for it to kind of have a “fever dream” look. I wish I had made her look more realistic because in my opinion it doesn’t really look like her. I do love the colors that I chose and I think they go well together.

"Isolation"

9X12,” Marker and Black Sharpie, 2018For my landscape drawing I wanted a neon color look and I decided to make my project with only the focus of two colors. I knew I wanted to draw someone alone in a landscape. I knew that the buildings in the back would be detailed so I decided to draw my girl in the foreground and be the focal point of my drawing. I decided to outline with the colors I used to make everything stand out against the black sharpie. If I could change something I would change the shape of the girls eyes because they weren’t that big to begin with. I do like how the green and the pink go well together.

"Rainbow Boa"

9X12,” Colored Pencils, 2018I’d say my drawing is a mix of abstract and realism because of adding the snake that was meant to be realistic, but I also have patterns in the back which technically makes it abstract as well. If I were to change something, I would change to the the design in my circle look a little different. I didn’t have a thought-out plan about what I was going to do inside of the white circle, because adding the design there was a last minute choice. I loved how the colors on the snake ended up. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get the colors to go well together but they ended up looking blended together and the way that I wanted it.

"Lana Del Rey"

12X18, “ Marker, Black Sharpie, Colored Pencil, 2019My work is a portrait of my favorite singer, Lana Del Rey, but viewed in a new light. I wanted the portrait to look different and not just be a plain portrait, but put my own style and spin onto it. I used black sharpie to define the lines and then used marker and colored pencil. I wanted it to look very magical and I wanted to capture a cosmic look and feel into my drawing.I decided to do a portrait of her because she has always inspired me artistically and musically. Music is a very big part of my life as well as art, and her music is important to me. If I were to change something I would change some of the color choices.

"Shine"

12X18, “ Colored Pencil, Rhinestones, Beads, Glitter, Glitter Pen, 2019 My work is an abstract piece. I wanted to include shapes and I was inspired by checkered patterns. I used colored pencils to color my piece, and later I decided to add the extra details. I had an idea later while working that I should add some tiny rhinestones and glitter. After I finished that, I made the decision to go all out with the glitter. Doing this piece has taught me that it's never too late to add more and to not be afraid to be extra with my art. If I were to change something I would change the color of the girls shirt.

"Our Dandelion Field"

8X12, " Black Sharpie, Marker, 2019I drew this piece inspired by a photo of me and my siblings out camping. This photo means a lot to me because I love my siblings and we have a really close bond with each other. I created this my sketching with pencil, tracing with sharpie, and then coloring. My favorite thing about it is the sky in the back.
