Noah Cummins “Tide Pod That Does Not Go In Your Mouth”
9” x 12” Aluminum, paper and oil pastels 2018
I started out with the tide pod idea but abstracted with patterns around it. I chose a tide pod because I thought it would be funny, and it was because it made my classmates laugh. When I sketched my idea on paper, it was too small to trace so I used to copying machine to make it bigger. Then I taped it to a piece of metal and I started raising and lowering patterns in it in different areas to make this. Lastly I started on my background, I remember doing past projects with backgrounds similar to this one, and I Liked how they turned out. So I did that and added the tide pod colors. My audience should know that it isn’t just a bunch of shapes, but a tide pod. I would change the shapes around it if I did it again because they didn’t satisfy me as much as I thought it would. I love the center and how it contrasts and abstracts.
