Kylie Shcmitt "Pineapple"
Central DeWitt High School
17 & Sophomore
I was trying to think on what I wanted to do for my drawing for this contest and there is one thing that always comes to my mind. The thing that always comes to my mind is a pineapple. So, this is what I wanted to draw because there is a little history with the word pineapple in my family. When I think of the word pineapple I think of my uncle that commited suicide. When we were at his furnal if we needed a break then we would say pineapple and that would give us a break. I think that this design would be good on a t-shirt because there is a trend for pineapples and there is a meaning behind it.
Kylie Schmitt “Upside down”
8x6, Paper & graphite, 2019
This artwork would be realism because this drawing was made from me looking at a picture that my aunt took of me at the state fair. There is not any color besides black and white. I think that my artwork has balance because the drawing looks evan. I feel like there is some texture in this drawing but not much. There are defiantly lines in this drawing because that is what I’m holding onto when I’m in the air. If I had to start over I would want to make the drawing bigger than it is now because I feel like it would look better than the size it is now. I love that in the drawing that you can see all the lines and the person that is upside down stands out in the drawing. I also like that you can see the different shades from the graphite and it just gives it a cool affect.
Kylie Schmitt "Sunset"
12x18, Oil pastel, 2019
The draing is in the style of realism because when you look at the artwork it looks kind of like a real sunset. the meaning of my artwork would have to be happy becasue when you look at it the artwork might make you smile i feel like i would change the way i did the sunset because i kind of think it looks like a sunset. I love the way the ocean looks when the sun and then i like the way the palm trees look with the color of them.
