I always liked barns. I just thought they were cool and people don’t use barns as much as they used to and barns are getting harder to come by because the old ones are breaking down. My grandma has an old barn and I have memories of being in it. As time goes on that barn keeps getting worse and it will eventually fall over. So I started by looking at pictures of barns until I found the one I wanted to try drawing. When I found the photo I wanted to base my barn off of I just started sketching the barn with pencil on the canvas. This barn setting is supposed to be relaxing and calm. I would say it was hard for me to do the grass because it can be hard for me to do a grass texture. I just kept painting until I was finally happy with the grass. If I started this painting over and did it again I would add a tractor. This style of art is realistic.
The painting is of my dog that passed away this year. I chose to paint him because he meant a lot to me. He was a good dog. I miss him. I used a photo I took of him and traced him. Then I painted the tracing, It is just a photo of my pet. When people look at this painting I want them to think about maybe their dog if they have one. Putting detail in the face. I just got some help. I would add trees that were in the original photo.
