Magic Dragon
(9inch. H 8inch. W)
Clay, Underglaze watercolors, carving tools, Crystaltex cone 05 glaze (lava)
I have always loved drawing dragons and I haven't done anything with a dragon in art class yet so I decided to do something with a dragon in the clay.
I started with the base and used coils so I could make a big pot, then I smoothed out the coils, then I carved the dragon into the pot, then it was fired, then I used watercolor glaze to paint the dragon, then I used (lava) to paint the background, and then it was fired for the last time.
I had some difficulties with the coils because I thought it was gonna be too heavy on one side but I smoothed out the sides with a ruler and made the sides somewhat even.
I carved the dragon in the clay instead of just painting it on.
The dragon is the coolest thing on my pot because it's so colorful and so detailed.
I would not change a thing on it because I love how it turned out.
