PERCUSSION instruments are their own family. Students will start on snare drum and mallets. There are typically 6 - 8 percussion students in band. Students with piano experience often excel on percussion instruments.

Opportunities to learn other percussion will take place as they are needed and available. These include: timpani, drum set, hand drums, auxiliary, and marching percussion in high school.

*Starting in fall 2025 students interested in Percussion will start on a wind instrument. After the 1st quarter of 6th grade, they will be evaluated for percussion placement.
