Elroy Cooks, a native of Assumption Parish, is giving back by teaching young people essential life skills while having fun. He is a published author and Founder of a Not-for-Profit Organization Center for Progress, Inc. Each camper will read his autobiographical mentoring book that is not only felled with life lessons but also interactive activities for students to learn about themselves in his book titled “No Trophies” Empowering Young People to Focus on Excellence Instead of Competition. The book is first of three within the series.
The Center for Progress’s long term goal is attract sponsors so the organization’s Annual Summer Camps could be held at a local college campus in Louisiana in July 2025 and later in August at his Alma Mata in 2025 for a week long camp for all of his campers that attend the camp in 2023 and 2024.
