Be the natural child, adopted child, stepchild, or full dependent of a worker who was injured or killed in a compensable work-related accident during the course and scope of employment with a Colorado-based employer and was entitled to receive benefits under the Colorado Workers ’ Compensation Act. It doesn’t matter which insurance company covered your parent’s claim.Be between 16 and 25 at the time of the appe and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. • The student or the student’s parents or legal guardian must be an active member* who receives
electric service from SLVREC. If the service is listed under a farm or business name, please provide
that name. Applicant’s parents must be owners. (Additional information may be requested to verify
membership.) *The lineworker scholarship is open to non-members as well.
• Unless stated otherwise for a specific scholarship, the student must be graduating from a local area high
school (or equivalent), and the student must be entering college or vocational school as a freshman.
• If funding is available Adams State University sophomores, juniors or seniors may be considered for
the Adams State University Scholarship.
• Dependents of SLVREC board members and employees are only eligible for the Basin Scholarship
specifically identified for dependents.
• Applicants will be rated on grade point average (GPA), SAT/ACT score, school and community
activities, achievements and an essay stating his/her career goals (two pages maximum). Lineworker
applicants’ rating system varies slightly

You’ll enroll and attend an accredited institution in the academic year after your selection (verification needed, as scholarship funds are paid directly to the schools)
You have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino heritage

The County Sheriffs of Colorado, through its honorary membership program, awards approximately thirty $500 scholarships every academic school year. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and eligible for admission or readmission to the school(s) or institution(s) of learning indicated in the application. The award will only be paid for attendance at certified schools or institutions of learning within the State of Colorado.
