Google Sites Culminating Project

As part of our culminating project, each of you will be responsible for creating a website which will showcase your learning experiences and final outcomes. We will use a simple website creator provided by Google Sites. (Step by step guide below.) You will take all of the information that you have been compiling in your Google Portfolio and create a Google Sites in order to share your exploration with the world! Be creative and have fun!

Here are the directions for setting up your Website:

Creating a Website using Google Sites.

You can create one or more websites on Google Sites Classic.

Choose a URL and template

1. Sign in to Google Sites (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. with your Google Account.
2. Click Create.
3. Choose a template. Or, you can use the default blank template or click Browse the gallery for more.
4. Enter a name for your site.
5. Enter a URL for your site.
   • Your site URL can’t be connected to anyone else’s Gmail account.
   • Site URLs can only use lower-case letters and numbers.
   • Your URL can be up to 600 characters.
6. To start with a pre-set background, font style, and font color, click Select a theme.
7. To give your site a description or categories, click More options.
8. At the top of the page, click Create.

Note: You can change your template or theme later, but any prior edits to site style or layout will be deleted.

Copy your site to a new URL

You can’t change an existing site’s URL, but you can copy it to a new URL. You can only copy sites you own.

1. Open your website in Google Sites (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..
2. Click More actions Manage site.
3. Near the middle of the page, click Copy this Site.
4. Under "To" in "Site name," type a new name for your copied site.
5. If you don’t want to copy the site’s current sharing settings, uncheck Copy site collaborators and Copy page comments.
6. If you want to keep the revision history from your old URL, check Include revisions.
7. At the top of the page, click Copy.
