911 Emergency Address Signs

Q:  Should I post address numbers along the roadway?

A: Yes! Posting your address along the roadway makes you safer. Road numerals posted in front of your residence near property access (e.g. driveway) are strongly recommended. Clearly visible road numbers assist us with quickly and efficiently locating your property in the event of an emergency response. Address numerals should be clearly marked and posted 4-5 feet above the ground so that they remain clearly visible at all times of the year.

Q: What sort of address numbers should I post?

A: We recommend that you post an Emergency Address Signs with your address numerals on your property along the roadway. Green, reflective Emergency Address Signs are the standard in our area and are more visible during the day and night.

Q: Where can I acquire an Emergency Address Sign?

A: Unfortunately, Cedar Area Fire & Rescue is unable to provide emergency address signs. These can be purchased online, at most hardware stores, or at Cedar Hardware located next door to our station in downtown Cedar, MI.

Q: Will the fire department help me install my emergency address sign?

A: Yes. If you need assistance installing your emergency address sign, Cedar Area Fire & Rescue can help. Please contact us at (231) 228-5396 to arrange for assistance.
