About Us

The Division of Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, a specialized domain within the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Hyderabad, aims to conduct state-of-the-art research in Hydraulics, Hydrology, and Hydro-meteorology.

The division offers 2-year and 3-year M.Tech programmes in HWRE, along with full-time and part-time Ph.D. programmes.

Currently, the HWRE division consists of seven faculty members working in diverse areas of water engineering, including groundwater modeling, urban floods, contaminant transport, sediment transport, surface hydrology, Hydraulics Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Experimental Hydraulics, CFD and Turbulence Modeling, Open Channel Flows, satellite meteorology, and agricultural water management.

In addition to regular teaching and occasional training programmes, the group is actively involved in real-world applications through consultancy and sponsored research projects.
