Absent Work

MAKING UP MISSED WORK

Students are responsible for making up class and homework assignments missed due to absence.

The general rule is: the number of days absent = the number of days during which needed work must be made up.

Long-term illnesses or special absences may be dealt with on an individual basis with your child's teachers. It is the responsibility of the student to check with the teacher upon returning for his/her assignments.

Work can be sent home with another student, or sent down to the main office at the end of the day if requested by the parent (via the main office).

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Check the calendar and Google Classroom for information about assignments.
  2. See me by 7:15 am the day that you come back.
  3. If you cannot come in the morning, please see me at recess OR make arrangements to stay after school.
  4. The student is responsible for gathering materials needed and contacting me for information regarding missed work.
  5. Materials will be posted in Google Classroom and hard copies will be available in the "Absent Work" folder in my classroom.

If a parent calls in (or emails me) during the day to request work, I will send down what I can to the office by the end of the day (or through a sibling in the building if specified). Otherwise I will assume that the student will be planning on making up the work when they return to school.

For most cases, students will be given the same amount of days absent to complete the missing assignments. Exceptions can be made on a per-situation basis as needed.
