September 2023
It is hard to believe we are already four weeks into school.
A couple big changes have happened in the library since the school year started.
I am excited to announce that we have changed the process by which students may access the library catalog to put items on hold. From their classroom or from home all students may log in using their cdstmatthew account rather than learning a separate library barcode number and password. When a student places a hold, I am automatically sent a notification and materials will be delivered to the classroom by the end of the next school day if the item is available and if the student has fewer than the maxiumum number of items checked out. Those maximum numbers vary by grade. For grades K and 1, that is one item (plus a second chance book for the purposes of in-class checkout). Grades 2-5 may have three items checked out. Grades 6-8 may have up to five items at a time checked out for the purposes of holds. If the student is at the maximum number of items I will hold the item for up to a week for the student return books and receieve their hold.
The process for logging into Sora has also changed. Students may now login with their cdstmatthew account instead of their library barcode number. We have also joined a partnership with Columbus Metropolitan Library. Students may link their Sora account to the Columbus Metropolitan Library and check out ebooks through their collection using the same cdstmatthew login. This is true whether your child has a public library card or not. This dramatically increases the number of electronic items available for students. Directions for linking to Columbus Metropolitan library are available here, if you wish to assist your child with this process. DDC CML Google.pdf
