Masses under Red Traffic Light.

Effective from midnight we have a limit of 100 at all Masses. All Masses will require presentation of your Covid pass for entry to the Mass (excluding children).

There has also been enough time to setup a booking system, please register for your required Mass. Weekday's until February Masses are St Peter Chanel Thursday 9am & St Joseph's 9am Friday.

Weekend Masses are Vigil; St Peter Chanel 5 pm Saturday & St Joseph's 9 am Sunday.

I expect also that we will be unable minister to rest-homes at this time.

(Regrettably during the Red Light period This parish will not be offering any masses for the unvaccinated.)

Unexpected news Level 3 continuing so No Masses this weekend

12th October Update:

Masses 29th Sunday Ordinary Time

With the announcement that we should be returning to Level 2 on Friday 15th October, we will recommence weekend Masses on the 16th and 17th. These will be the first Masses offered and Covid cases allowing we will then return to our regular weekly masses after the weekend. (Should for any reason there be a late change due to a further outbreak; then naturally the planned masses will not occur.)

All Weekend Masses require bookings: These are open now for next weekend. https://www.cognitoforms.com/AlexBailey1/SundayBookingParishOfTheHolyCross

8th October Update:

As a result of the continued Level 3 lockdown there will be no Masses this weekend. Should the situation change next week an email alert and website update will be issued. A reminder that at this level 10 is the maximum number who can attend a funeral.

3rd October Update:

After several weeks of booking for Masses and offering 2 masses Saturday & Sunday it has been apparent that the present demand does not match the availability of Masses. From now on the Masses will return to there normal times still using restricted numbers and the need to book on-line.

St Peter Chanel Vigil Mass 5.30pm max capacity 70. St Joseph's Sunday 9.30am max capacity 100.

Should the Government make any change to the Covid levels that impact on the Masses there will be a further email.

Letter from Bishop Steve re Sunday Masses:

21st September

Week day Mass will recommence:

This week Bishop Steve announced that weekday mass could commence at the discretion of the parish priest. My initial plans had been to do a variety of mass times but it became evident that this parish did not require as much variety.

From Tuesday 21st September we will return to our normal weekday times. There will be NO booking system, the first 50 to arrive will be allowed into the Masses. Should we have excess numbers I am happy to look at providing additional Masses. Please note the schools are not attending Mass at this time.

You will need to wear a mask in the Church and to use either the QR code on your phone or complete a Covid entry card to record your attendance at the Mass. An update will be issued after the governments announcement on Monday regarding Sunday Masses.

If you are watching Mass at home make a spiritual communion:

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
