Invercargill's Catholic Youth is a faith group for high school aged youth.
The group meets every Sunday evening from 17:30-18:30 at St Theresa's Chapel at 40 Perth Street.
We encourage the children of St Theresa's Parish to be actively involved in our Masses. They help with readings, prayers and serving on a regular basis. We also join the youth group from time to time for social gatherings.
The Passionist Family Movement came to our diocese on 1993, with several groups started in Invercargill. These family groups had a huge impact in our parishes, helping to build a loving and supportive community. However, as people have got older and families have moved away, most of the groups have ceased to operate. Nevertheless, there are still two groups operating in Invercargill. In 2026 we will investigate a re-launch of PFGs in Invercargill.
The PFG movement has 3 aims:
To get to know one another. Family groups help people get to know other members of their parish community.
To support each other. Members of a family group support each other, sharing each others joys and sorrows and so building the Christian community as in the early Church.
To involve our children. Family groups bring together people of all ages and help us involve our children in our Christian sharing directly, if possible, or indirectly by our example.
A Housie group meets at St Patrick's Parish Centre every Tuesday 1.30 - 3.30pm. Everyone very welcome.
