Artist Statement
The idea of my photo was to draw a picture of me as a baby in my halloween costume for my first halloween. I got the idea because I like drawing photos of me when I was younger and it gives me nostalgia and memories of my younger childhood. It is an inspiration because halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I love the fact that when I was younger I used to dress up as well. The process of my art was very strategic. I would draw the outline of my body first before I would start on the detail of my face and costume I was wearing. Then what I would do was draw the details to my fingers, face, and costume. Some of the tools I used were mechanical pencils, rulers, and colored pencils. I used these because I feel like they would have been the best for me to use on my features for me as a baby. The artwork to me is special and means a lot to me. It means something to me because I miss childhood and miss how good life was back then. I also love how easy life was back then when I was younger. I want my audience to think of the times they were young and when they were babies on any holiday. I think the most difficult thing for me was the face detail and the pumpkin detail. I say this because in the drawing I had to draw my face scrunched up with happiness and that was kinda hard for me because I couldn’t find the right spot where the eyes needed to be and where the mouth and nose were placed. I overcame this struggle by putting all my effort into it and trying my hardest to make the eyes and mouth look well. I also asked for some help to make sure I was doing it correctly. Something would change would be the hair on my head in the drawing. I feel like I didn’t add enough detail into the hair and I feel like I could have added more detail. I did realistic art. I did realistic art because it would have matched my art best and made the drawing look best looking. It makes it unique to me because I am very energetic and I always have a good attitude and I feel like in the drawing you can see the happiness and excitement on my face. Something I love about it is the fact that I can keep it forever and look at it for memory from when I was younger.
