This is one of the first projects that I made. To start, Ms. Garrity wanted us to make pitchers as our second piece of work. First, I got a slab of clay and rolled it out on the roller and cut it to my desired length, then I picked out a design and rolled it out onto the clay, and then I connected both sides to make a pitcher. I then cut out holes as a part of the design, glazed it then it was done. This will be used as decoration inside the house. I would say the most difficult part was connecting the sides the clay was very dry and kept cracking, so I just sprayed it and smoothed it over. If I would change something I would add more color and more holes, this is also an expressive piece.
This bowl will be used to eat or to hold things, I made this on the electric wheel. Ms Garrity had us make bowls on the wheel and after it was made I chose this ocean blue because it's my favorite color. The most difficult was taking it off the wheel because I didn't want it to break. So I asked Ms Garrity to help but if I had to change something I wouldn't change anything i love it, I love the blue color it reminds me of the ocean this is also realistic art because you can use it.
My idea was to make something where you put chips and then your dip. I chose this pattern because it stuck out to me, also I made sure to center it, other wise it would have made me mad. to make it I rolled out clay and put it on Styrofoam circles and let it dry a little bit then when it was hard enough I took it off and cut off what I didn't want then to add the little bowl I cut a part out of the big bowl scored them both stuck it on there and smoothed it out and but a little bump on the bottom to help it stand up I think the most difficult thing was making sure the little bowl stayed on there. But after it was fired it cracked in the middle which made me mad because it was my favorite project. I love the blue and how the design is even all across it. This is realistic because it can be used.
My idea with this was to make something in whatever season we were in which was October and it was close to Halloween so I made a pumpkin. The process was I got a bag of coils ready and I started coiling to however big I wanted the pumpkin to be and after about three coils I would smooth it out and keep going and smoothing it out. Then after I got to the top with the leftover coils I made a stem. The clay was very wet so I put it in the garbage bag open a little bit and set it aside until the next class. Then the next class I added all the details I carved out the face at the lines in the pumpkin and made the details on the stem. this doesn't mean anything i just did it for halloween. The most difficult part was all of it, It took many many class periods. if i started over i would have added another tooth. This is expressive and is gonna be used for decoration.
My idea with this was to make a apple with a bite taken out of it then put magnets on it. I don't think anything was difficult, but if i had to change something i would not have picked a apple. To make this I just cut out a piece of clay and cut in the shape of an apple and added a stem and when it was fired the stem fell off so it looked like a red blob and when it was done I painted it red this is a expressive and is used for decoration.
