“Swamp Monster”
8x10
Photoshop Elements
When I was a kid I loved watching Scooby-Doo because of the mystery and the evil plans the villains used to trie and get money or to scare them off there land. I one episode they are in a Swamp and a swamp monster comes out of the water. It was super scary and cool how that villain could do that because swamps can be really deep and he/she is just walking higher and higher until he/she is at waist level in the water and then just disappears.
First, in this project, I started off really good but then I accidentally deleted that. So I restarted. First I started with the trees then the water. After the is did all of the bushes.
Once I was down with that is started with the small details like the Swamp Moster and then the bark, and so on.
When I accidentally deleted my work, I worked hard and safer on the second one because I didn’t want to mess anything up in it. Also when I started doing the tree bark detail I used a dark gray effect on the tree to give it texture. After that, I ended up making it darker to give it a murky look that a swamp has.
What creative risks did you take, or what is something new you tried or learned?
On my second version, I decided to make the background lighter. Also tried using the burn tool to make the mud look moist and wet.
I like how the artwork looks in general. It has a mysterious feel and look to it and that is exactly what I wanted this project to end up like. So that was a win!
I would be more careful about the layers because I accidentally did to things in one layer. I also would want to make more touch-ups on the Swamp Monster. Also around the Monster, I wanted to do more details on the water.
