Elements of Art Poster
Photoshop 2018
I wanted to use an element that was fairly easy to represent so that I had a lot of time to work on designing the project itself. I wasn’t hesitant to pick shape. I think what I created represents shape because I showed both Geometric and Organic shapes, and a definition. I really like the color choice I used in this artwork. Nothing I would change now. After getting feedback back, and applying the advice I got to my work, I feel like there isn’t much to improve. I did align my text along the center though, instead of the left side
Expressive Typography
Photoshop 2018
My goal was to show a quote and support the quote with the text and the background. It took me awhile to find a quote I liked. I ended up combining two quotes. I picked a nice cool looking ocean-ish background. I thought this looked cool and supported the quote “Stay cool and stay humble”. I feel like both the words and the picture back each other up and connect to the quote. The thing I like the most is the background I created. I would maybe find a different font for the text if I were to start over, but I think it looks pretty good.
Self Portrait
Photoshop, 2018
The goal was to create a self-portrait that represents me. I knew from the start that I am a simple guy and I wanted my project to be simple. I used a nice black and white background and a filter that wasn’t too abstract. The added images from iclipart show that I am a runner and it connects to the quote nicely I think. If I were to restart I would spend more time on it, but I was sick. I would spend time creating a background of collages of images that represent me, for example, I might include images of a basketball and of Kinnick stadium in the background collage.
Film Festival Poster
Photoshop, 2018
Our goal was to design a poster that would be both appealing and informing about the Film Festival. I wanted to create a poster that was simple, classy, and bold. I used an image I found that was like a clipart type outline of a movie theatre. I wanted the information to look sort of like credits from at the end of the movie. I used a nice classy font that ties along with an old-time movie theatre. If I started over I might move the screen down a bit, or the chairs up. But I am pretty happy with what I made.

The objective here was to encourage people to get out there to vote. I saw a “do your duty and go vote” propaganda poster somewhere, but I wanted to create one that was more up to date and fit in with the upcoming 2020 election. I think the font and the message and the overall piece all fits together very nicely. The flag design I found is very cool in my opinion. If I had the chance to start over, I would think about things I could add to the bottom or top of the poster, because right now there is a little bit too much blank space.
