My ceramics project is inspired by the vintage style of the 1990s. I wanted my piece to look like something that could have come from a home in that time period. To achieve this, I focused on simple shapes, soft colors, and a slightly worn or handmade appearance that gives it an authentic, nostalgic feel. I first started bye doing a slab and carving in some design's like zig zags ,lines, shapes, x's, triangles , wave's, and indents. Then I made a cloud and add this sun with lines shouting out of it and looking like its screaming lines , i also made these flowers and hearts to add on. When designing i first ran into my first problem it cracked in the middle and i had to make 2 different pieces that still are suppose to be 1. I used smooth curves and subtle texture to make the piece feel both functional and decorative. The glaze choices were important because they help create that vintage look, giving the surface a warm and slightly aged finish. Overall, this project allowed me to explore how ceramics can reflect a specific time period. By combining simple forms, classic glaze colors, and a handmade feel it made this betuful project that i always wanted. The faces were probable the most changeling to do and it took some time to make them look real.
