Peyton Shaffer “Cloudy Days”
19’ by 22’, paint, toothbrush, 2022
My idea for this painting was to paint this sky painting. I got the idea from another picture and wanted to recreate it. I first started this painting by painting the background colors from top to bottom. I had to blend the colors and had to match paint colors so I was able to blend them. For the clouds, I used a foam brush to make them look textured. For the background stars, I used a toothbrush and scattered the paint. I don't have a symbolic reason for this painting but I think the painting is nice to look at. Blending the colors was the most difficult for me because I didn't know how to blend the paint before I started this painting. I had to keep changing the colors because I didn't get the exact color sometimes so that made it difficult. If I started over I would've blended the colors together faster so I wouldn't have to keep changing the colors. I would say this painting is more non-objective. What I love about this painting is that I like the colors.
