"Victorian lady"

3x3x5, stone-wear, 2022

This was my first project also known as my baseline. the inspiration for this was I wanted a person to be my first idea so I could remake it later.  It was supposed to be a simplistic lady in a dress and bonnet with a simple figure. making the head and hair were the most difficult because it broke so much, next time i'd do them all in one piece rather than separate.

"Slump drapes and pitcher"

4x1,7x1, 6x4, Stone-wear, 2022

The idea behind it is I wanted to make something for my mom so I wanted to give them a more nature type look. I wanted them to be pretty simplistic so they were still usable. There's not much symbolic imaging behind it since its primary source is utilitarian rather than expressive. The pitcher was the most difficult part since it would often break. If I could redo it I wouldn't add a handle to save the pain of it breaking. The style behind it is very simplistic in either a pattern or simply one image engravement.

 "Faceless Ancient"

4x3x4, Stone-wear, 2022

The idea behind it is it was supposed to be a girl with a mask on and plants. I wanted to remake a human figure with different techniques and more detail.  I wanted it to have an old type look, almost an overgrown and rusted aesthetic to it. I wanted to have a calm or questioning feeling to it, I want people to question things about it and why it is the way it is. The hardest part was the hair because it's a bunch of small strands that broke easily and made it hard to glaze. If I remade it I'd find a way to change the hair and legs of it. The sculpture is expressive and humanoid making has a sort of animated look to it.

"Assorted tea bowls that make a flower"

3x3x2,5x5x2,4x4x2, Stone-wear, 2020

I got this idea when I wanted to make a folded motion into a bowl. To make the folds look more natural I added veins like in plants. The process was very similar to making a normal bowl, once I folded the sides over each other I put it into a ring mold to keep it from collapsing. I wanted the pieces to look earthy and mixed colored, also for it to have a simple theme with a complex design that's both decorative and useful. The hardest part was making all the pieces fit and align with each other. Next time I'd make them all at the same time instead of waiting. The sculpture reminds me of a non objective abstract, it's unnatural but has a form of geometry without emotion or faces.

"Pottery wheel"

3x3x4,6x6x3,3x3x3, Stone-wear, 2022

These artworks are my first creations using a pottery wheel. There was no idea or objective behind these ones and I tried to make what I was able to in the time I had. The hardest part about using the wheel was keeping my clay from getting too thin or collapsing and ripping on itself

"Stop Motion"

modeling clay, 2022

This was created as a group animation by me, Hannah Moore, and Emma PIllars. We wanted to create cute and small characters and used references like Kirby. The process of making this was long because we had to take a lot of pictures and add effects in Imovie. The hardest part was adding the ending frames to make it come together after filming it separately from the rest of the video. Next time we will try to find a way to do it in a smaller time gap so it looks more natural and put together.

"kneeling figure"

2x3x4, Stone-wear, 2022

This artwork was created out of a character I made a long time ago and have attached to it. There is no symbolism besides that I was trying to make it look like someone specific from my imagination. This was one of the harder sculptures for me to make because of the hair and thickness of the clay. If I ever plan to remake this piece I'll likely do a different stance and pose so I can support my neck more and prevent it from falling off.  This art style is very close to my own because i created the character myself and wasn't focusing on something i've never seen before.
