“The Scream”

Fine Point Sharpies, Markers, Colored Pencils.
My inspiration for this work was “The Scream” by Edward Munch. My process for creating this work was, I first research methods of art to decide how I wanted to recreate Munch’s art piece and I came to the conclusion of using pointillism, a technique using tiny dots with multiple different colors. I then sketched out my work in my sketchbook and began to plan out my colors. Next, I moved on to my final paper, sketched out the outline of the art, and started drawing the dots. I demonstrated problem-solving when I was deciding how big I wanted my dots to be. They didn't all come out the same size so I practiced on extra paper to get a feel of how hard to press. Something new that I tried was creating my whole project out of dots or using pointillism. I like most about my finished work how that color worked well together. If I could start over I would have not done dots just because it was extremely difficult to get them to line up and go together nicely.

“The Christmas Collage”
Sketchpad
My source of inspiration for this project was Christmas because it's my favorite holiday. I made this collage on sketchpad, so I had to mess around with shapes and colors in order to create my designs. The way I faced challenges was trying to figure out what shapes/colors would look best and most realistic. A creative risk I took was free drawing my snowflake because on a computer it is really difficult to make a straight line that isn't sloppy. Something new I learned was how to use sketchpad and what things worked best. The thing I like the most about my project was how it projected Christmas and my favorite 4 things about it. If I would do this project again I would make it a different theme because I really enjoyed making the Christmas collage but I would like to try other things with another collage.

“Flower Garden”

Construction Paper, Metal, Black Paint, Watercolor Crayons
My inspiration for this project was my grandma. She loves flowers and every time I go there in the summer she always likes to show me the new flowers she got. I had to face many challenges during this project but one big challenge was I didn't know what to do with my background. I didn't want the background to overpower the metal so I wanted to make it simple but still look good. A creative risk I took was just choosing a design to make my flower with. I took squiggly lines and connected them to make them a flower. I had to really experiment to make them look good and realistic. Something new I learned was how to use watercolor crayons. I really enjoyed using them because I have never used them before and they were really fun to use. It was really cool to watch the water make it look more realistic. My favorite thing about my project was the background. I love how it turned out and I am really glad about the colors I chose. If I were to do this project again I would choose a different color of metal because I feel like silver might have looked better with the flowers.

"Florida Sunset"
String and Yarn
My inspiration for this project was Florida. I went to Florida over spring break this year and my favorite part was the sunsets at night because I loved to see all of the different colors in the sky with the water right in front, and the dolphins swimming around. I had to face many challenges during this project but the main one was creating the sun. I didn't realize that it would be so difficult to make a half-circle out of the yarn. It took many tries but I finally got it the shape I wanted. A creative risk I took was trying to recreate a picture that I took on my phone of a sunset. It was very hard to match the colors with the options I had but I made it work. Something new I learned was how to set up a piece of cardboard to weave. My favorite thing about my project was how all of the colors complemented each other. I think the mixture of bright and subtle colors looked really good together. If I were to do this project again I would try to make the water look a little more interesting and weave some different shades in. I like how it looks but there is always room for improvement and I could definitely make it better.
