Mya Petersen “Bloom”
9x12, paint on paper, 2018
The style of my prints is realism because it looks like a scene from a picture. My print is of flowers because I love flowers and they remind me of life. If I started over I would have made the grooves deeper. I love most how it turned out because my first one wasn’t good and the other two worked so well.
Mya Petersen “Pickle Lily”
12x18 graphite on paper, 2018
The style of my drawing is realism because I drew my cat exactly as the picture was. I decided to draw my cat because I spend a lot of time around her and I am her favorite. If I were to start over I would have planned it out more instead of jumping right in. My favorite part of this drawing is the eyes because it took me so long to get them to look right and now I’m happy with how they look.
Mya Petersen “Blake”
18x24, Ink on Paper, 2018
I did an ink drawing of Blake Lively. The style is black and white pop-art. I decided to do this drawing because Blake Lively is one of my favorite actresses. If I were to start this drawing over I would make sure that the eyes weren’t so thick on the lash area because I made them too big. What I love most about my drawing is that the brush I used to paint the ink on made the hair look realistic. I also love the classic black and white with the color in the back.
Mya Petersen “Sweet Summer Night”
12x18, watercolor paint on paper, 2018
The style of my painting is realism. I decided to paint this because I took this picture at my lake house on the golf course one summer night. I have spent many summers going there. I would change the sky and improve how it looks if I were to start over. What I love most about my painting is the meaning behind it or the orange in the sunset.
Mya Petersen “Rings of Age”
18x24, paint on paper, 2018
The style of this print is abstract because it is hard to tell that it is a tree ring but it still is one. I did this because we were doing prints in this class. If I could change one thing I would make sure the distribution of paint was even and pressed down harder to make the color bolder. I love how it turned out though because it is unique.
Mya Petersen “Watercolor Flight”
12x18, watercolor on paper, 2018
The style of my drawing is realism because the butterfly is natural but I added creative effects to the wings. I decided to draw this because I used a zen doodle style which was influenced by Polynesian art which we learned about earlier this year. I also have liked butterflies since I was little. I would change the colors of the water color pencils I used inside the wings. I love the watercolor background because of the ombre effect.
