Drawing II

Michael Schneider "Summer Golf"

Colored Surreal Landscape, 2022, 9X11

My first idea was to think of something that I liked and golf was the first thing that I thought of. I have liked golf and I got the idea since I like to golf on my free time and have just enjoyed it a lot. There are inspirations from life experiences is me on my golf game and playing competitively.

My process for making this drawing was to first start with the green area and making sure it was the right size and it fit the drawing well. I then made the tee box and to make sure I put different tee boxes like red, white and blues since at Springbrook there are different yardages for them. I then was drawing trees around the golf course and then I added some sand traps around the green because there are lots of sand traps around the golf course.

This artwork means a lot to me since I like to golf and have enjoyed it for a while now. I want my audience to think about this is that this is a cool sight and that you should enjoy a nice round of golf with nice weather and the beautiful sky. There is no symbolic imagery in this work

Something that was difficult for me was the sky because it had some clouds that were different colors like a tan color and was kind of hard to draw those and also to draw some trees because they were different shapes and other stuff. I overcame these struggles by just trusting myself that I got it and to keep on going. If I could change anything I would change the tee box to a different color maybe and some stuff on the clouds.

This art is Surreal because this is real to what golf courses look like and it look like you are there golfing. The thing I like about this is the sky how it pops out a lot and makes the artwork nice.

Michael Schneider "Night Walk" Oil Pastels

9X11 ,Combo Surreal Landscape, 2022

My first idea was to find something that I liked to draw and I always like drawing things in the dark and a cool sky would look cool to draw. I don’t know how I got the idea but I think it evolved really well with my walkway being black into a light blue and then a dark black sky and the white snow makes it pop out more as well. Something from a life experience is when I was sitting by myself looking up at the stars and seeing the cool night sky and thought it would be cool to draw for a landscape drawing.

Well first I did not know what to do for a utensil but I thought of doing oil pastels because that would look cool and I could blend some colors in easier then with colored pencils or crayons. I used oil pastels like blue, black and white colors were my dominant ones I used for this drawing. I started out doing the walkway and made some white snowflakes on the trail because then I added the snow on the sides of it and blended some blue to make it look like ice. Then I worked on the moon which I made white and added some stars and some blue and gray patterns around the moon. After that I touched up on some things and I was finally finished.

This artwork means a lot of the dark nights and how beautiful that they can be looking up at the late night sky. I want my audience to look at this like a sky you look at when you are camping or in the summer and just look up and see how cool it is. There is no symbolic imagery in this work.

The most difficult thing for this drawing was the snow because I was trying to blend some blue in there so it would look like ice in there with the snow and it was hard to blend both of those colors. I overcame the struggles in trying to just draw all the white down and they draw some blue in with the snow. That was the only thing that was my struggle. If I had changed this I would change the sky and add some more gray and blue.

This is Surreal artwork and what makes it so unique is the snow and walkway which I think is the most unique thing. I like the sky the most and the moon and it seems that you are right there in real life looking at it.

Michael Schneider "Ocean Crazy"

9X11, Mixed Media , 2022

My idea was to just put different things all in one place and see what people think of it. I think I wanted to do something different like something on the ocean and have some cool birds and a cool landscape to go along with the ocean and the view of everything I wanted to stand out a lot and that people would like. I got the idea of the summer which is almost summer and I think of the beach and ocean views of the summer and seeing cool animals and meeting cool people since I have some people in my project. There were no life experiences on my project or artwork.

My process for this project was to get some magazines and to start looking for some cool pictures that I thought would make a cool project of mixed media. I think the pictures I chose were really good and thought it turned out really well. I just used magazines and found pictures and that was pretty much the only techniques I did and tools I used was also a glue stick to glue the pictures to my paper.

This artwork means a lot to the summer time and how much art is around us in today’s life. I want my audience to think about this as a cool mixed media type project with lots of cool things that go along with each other. There is no symbolic imagery in my work of mixed media.

What was most difficult for me was to find pictures that would fit this project because there were so many options for pictures and I wanted to pick the right pictures for this project. How I overcame my struggles was to just choose the ones I thought were the best pictures and just went with my gut. If I could change something on my project I would change the man on the left side because he is just floating it seems on the project and would like to change that if I could start over and more characters.

This is a Surreal style of art with lots of cool drawings and backgrounds for this project. What I loved about this project was the different colors and shapes of objects on the paper because it’s cool because you eyes move everywhere when you look at this project.

Michael Schneider "Colorado View"

9X11 Black and White Drawing, 2022

My first idea was to think of something with landscape because that is what my drawings where like and the theme I choose so I was thinking of adding some mountains to this one because I think mountains are so cool to see and living in Iowa you don't see mountains at all but the texture and the nature of mountains is just so cool to me. I think it evolved really well because I added some trees to this and also a moon which looks pretty cool with this drawing.

Well my process was to find some new things that I could add to my mountains and I thought I choose the right ones and I think the cool patterns the mountains are in are cool to me. I just used a shading tool and also used a pencil and some black colored pencils.

This artwork means a lot to what mountains can bring out to somebody you are all alone and sitting and looking at the pretty cool mountains and there is nothing better then that but you also can look at the wildlife. I also named this Colorado View because Colorado is so awesome with all that you can do there and how cool the mountains are in the west coast. I want my audience to think they are in a west coast state and that they can see the beautiful mountains.

It was pretty difficult for me to get started but I think I did pretty good and I overcame the struggles by believing in myself. This is surreal artwork because this can be real things in life and seeing the moon and mountains just seems like you are on a different planet because of how cool it is there.
