Drawing I

Michael Schneider “Creative Giraffe”

9X12 Black and White 2021

My idea for an animal was a giraffe because I think giraffes are cool. I like their long necks and how they can reach for the tallest trees. I was thinking about something unusual with it being my black and white drawings since animals are usually colored. I wanted to try something different. I didn’t really have anything from a life experience with a giraffe.

Well first I wanted to get the body of the giraffe and neck done first since that is the most important thing. Then I wanted to draw some trees by it and then some in the background to make it look cool. I used black colored pencils and also used my pencils for some shadings with the clouds and trees.

This artwork shows how you can change a giraffe from what you usually see it from color to a different style with black and white. I want my audience to think about my drawing as unique with the black and white how it is different from other giraffe drawings you usually see. No, there is no symbolic imagery in my project.

What was most difficult for me was whether I should add more trees or not. Since giraffes are around trees all the time I didn’t know if I wanted a lot or a few. I thought of having some in the background instead or right by it since my only other background was my clouds.

Realistic since it is a giraffe and how you see giraffes in the grasslands and open lands right by trees which I showed trees in my project. I like the trees since I didn’t just do trees but also limbs around the trees since they have them. For like smaller giraffes they can eat on the lower limbs so that’s what I think a good job on and I like it.

Michael Schneider "Beautiful Sight"

9X12, Colored , 2021

My idea for my project was to have a cool background with the beauty of nature in my project. I wanted to have lots of colors in my picture like green and blue for the grass and sky and water. I think that my idea evolved very well since I thought I did a good job with the colors I chose for the project. This was not from any life experiences.

So for my process I started with designing the mountains and the bridge since I think that was a big piece in my project. I then started to work on where I was gonna put the grass so I put it on the side of the water. I then worked on coloring the water, sky and bridge and then I finally put a sun in the background which reflects the bottom portion of my water to a lighter color and my grass. I used colored pencils and also pencils.

This artwork means a lot about nature and how cool things can be with nature and other things. I want my audience to think about this project is that the cool mountain views that you don’t really see here in Iowa but that it is so cool to see. No, there is no symbolic imagery in my work.

I think the most challenging thing for this project was the reflection of the mountains on the water. How I needed to get the exact lines and where it is standing up to the reflection of the water was challenging but looked really cool.

This realistic style of art is so unique since the mountains are shown but also on the water reflection and also the bridge going from one side to the other. What I like about this project is all of it. I like the bridge and how it goes over water with the mountain view is cool for me. I also put the snow caps on the mountains in the front since where there is usually snow it is usually cold and since it’s getting close to winter I thought it would look cool.

Michael Schneider " Shadow Golf"

9X12 Combo Drawing 2021

My idea for this project was something that I liked which was golf which I played a lot in the summer and spring time. My idea evolved to making the black and white since I wanted it to stand out and having the sky in blue and clouds kind of cover the sun. Some inspirations for this project was on how the tee off of a tournament for golf is key and since I always liked teeing off in golf the most I thought of doing something with a tee were the ball will lie and the the driver getting ready to swing.

The process I did for this project was I first started out with the sun and cloud area since when I go out to golf there is always a pretty sunset and clouds moving around making it a cool atmosphere for golfing. Then I made a post on the left side which shows the yardage and the hole number. I then worked on the ground with the dirt with the tee going into the dirt you can see and the grass nicely trimmed.

This artwork means a lot to my life in how I found golf fun and enjoyable with my family but also my friends and the support I have gotten in this sport brought me out in this project What do you want your audience to think about? I want my audience to think about this is that this picture shows a lot in what I like to do and how I like golf and that you should draw things that you feel good about in your life. There is no symbolic imagery in this picture.

The most difficult thing about this project was the sun set and getting the right colors to blend to make a cool sunset. I used orange and yellow but it worked a little bit so I added some red to it to stand out more. If I started all over I would change the sky to maybe people watching the person tee off since when you go golf you have people watch you tee off or putting on the green.

This art is realistic since it can happen to anybody who likes sports but for this it is golf which is real. The thing I like about this artwork is the blue sky because when you golf you don't always go when it is raining or windy but a nice blue sky with a little breeze is the best golfing condition you can have so I like my background on this project a lot.

Michael Schneider " Like Mike" 9X12 Mixed Media 2021

My idea for this project was to do something I like about Michael Jordan since he is one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball. I did red and black on his body for what team he played for which was the Chicago Bulls and how he played basketball and with the trophy by him since he won lots of awards over the time of being in the NBA.

The process for this was to figure out how to draw Michael Jordan and it was difficult but I found some ideas on how to and then on top is seats since many people liked to watch Michael Jordan play basketball.

This artwork means a lot of how the game of basketball has evolved and how much one person can change the game forever and change people lives for believing in what you do and If you put your mind to it you can do it.

This artwork is realistic since it shows a basketball player that played in the NBA and was really good at doing that. The thing I like the most is the things around MJ since it shows what he accomplished and what he did for people. If I would change something on this I would probably change some of the things I have around MJ maybe hav a background of the team he played for.
