"Cupcake"
9x12, Acrylic Paint, 2023
This painting was just to see where I was at the beginning of the year. I was trying to paint a cupcake. I was trying to make it as realistic as I could.
I tried using different colors brown to make the cupcake paper look realistic. Adding confetti to the bottom of the paper I tried to add white to add highlights where the light would be hitting.
I had trouble when making the cupcake paper that was holding the cake together. Toward the end I got annoyed at the painting and didn't try as hard because I just wanted to be done with it.
I wouldn't change anything about my painting just because it is a baseline painting.
"The Happy Sea Turtle"
9x12, Acrylic Paint, 2023
The turtle is happy because of the water the sea turtle lives in. My idea is to show that water can be clear and not harmful to animals that live in the sea. If we change the animals that live in the sea.
I started painting my background and shading colors of blue together to show the different shades. I used my finger to tap and blend the color blue together. As the colors get darker the deeper the water gets. After painting my background I put sand and different sea plants to show how much more bright our sea can be. I added details of the plants to show that the sea turtle is in the sea. Towards the end, I asked my teacher if I should do anything different and she said to put a few fish so I did that to make my painting better. I used multiple different brushes to make my turtle painting.
Littering is a big problem in our world today. Our water has never been this dirty before because of people's actions in littering. Clearwater is important to have for the animals that live in the sea. Destroying their home isn't right. I made this painting to show how water can impact animals. Having healthy and clear waters is important because animals can be happier and healthier if we all change and not litter.
It was difficult painting my sea turtle because sea turtles have so much detail on them in real life. By improving my art I put more fish on my canvas to add more meaning and detail to it as well. I would say my painting is realistic because of how I painted it.
"Sunset View"
8x10, Acrylic Paint, 2023
I wanted to paint more of the ocean in painting II. The sun setting in front of my eyes will forever be one of the most beautiful sightings I will witness. For my idea to evolve, I started off by sketching my idea on my white canvas. I got my inspiration to paint this sunset from when I went to Florida with my family. Of all the photos I took this one was my favorite.
I started off by covering up someone else's work with white acrylic paint. After the white paint dried and my canvas was white, I started sketching my idea on my canvas. I wanted everything to look like it was in the right spot. When my sketch looked right I started painting my water. I did a couple of coats of dark blue. I started picking out what colors I wanted to be my sunset to be. The sunset development was kind of hard. Blending my colors together was difficult at moments because the colors didn't match or blend how I wanted them to. When I got close to the sun I started painting it. I made the sun a little darker than the sunset so people could still see there was a sun there. I still wasn't in love with the water so I did different shades of white and blue to add waves. After I added the waves I wanted to add clouds. So I added a hint of yellow so the clouds looked like the clouds were in front of the sunset. The sunset is a photo I took in Florida when I was with my family. I wanted the painting to look realistic.
