Olivia Lopez "Peek Into The Unknown"
12x12, Acrylic, 2023
The idea of this painting was to make something that was out of any box that anyone could think of. It kinda didn't form immediately but instead over time as the painting was progressing, I didn't even have the full painting sketched out before I started but it worked out in the end and came together pretty well. This painting took me about 4 months to finish. It was a long time and I did feel pretty far behind because everyone else in my class had already and multiple paintings done, but in the end I am proud of my work and I think it was worth my time. I wanted to confuse the person looking at it and make their brain really start to think about what could be outside of our world, our planet, our dimension, and our existence. It doesn't have a symbolic aspect to me. The thing that was the most difficult for me for getting lines to be straight and keeping calm when I messed something up. I just had to work slow and do my best to get lines straight and colors right because it was very frustrating but in the end it worked out. I dont know that I would change something if I could start over, maybe adjust colors, but I like my painting and I am proud of it. My painting is in the surreal style of art. I love that it has bright colors and dull colors, it had sharp lines and squiggles, it just feels like its alive.
