Lindsey Delich “Too Late”
3(9x12), Pencil and Watercolor Pencil, 2019
The style of my drawing is realism. There are three separate drawings. One of an eye shedding a single tear, one of a mouth with slightly parted lips, and another of a hand reaching for something in the dark. The eye is supposed to be showing someone feeling sad but trying to hold back a stream of tears. The lips are supposed to be someone about to speak, but deciding against it. And finally, the hand is supposed to be reaching out to someone already far gone. If I had to start over and change something, I would have probably started off with the hand and worked on getting it right. Hands are very hard to draw if you didn’t know. Something I love about this piece of art is the contrast between the iris and the surrounding black and white.
