9x12", Still Life-Colored Pencil, 2024
My Idea was to create a realistic-looking running shoe, I got the Idea from a shoe I saved that I wanted to buy. I saw this shoe online and I thought that It would be a cool thing to draw.
To create this I made a grid and got a reference photo which I put onto a big piece of paper. After I did that I started making rough sketches of the designs in the shoe and then I started to color. I used a blending stick to shade the colors together.
The imagery for this artwork is meant to be a shoe which I think I portrayed in a good way. I wanted my audience to think this was a shoe.
One thing that was most difficult for me was getting the shoe drawn on the paper while using the Grid. To overcome my struggles I took my time and made sure everything looked right. If I were to start over I wouldn't have made the Nike logo so dark and I would have worked more on the sole of the shoe.

9x12" Animal-Combo, 2024
My goal was to create a Bat that looked cartoonish with a sunset background. I got the idea from a bat that I have drawn before and some inspiration from the internet. I thought that a Bat would be a good animal to draw and that the sunset would fit well with the bat.
To create this piece I used a grid to put my bat onto another piece of paper, then I used Sharpie over the pencil lines and erased the pencil. Next, I used some graphite and blended the body and the wings. After I made the bat and had it finished I started on the background, the colors I chose were red, orange, and yellow.
One thing I struggled with was getting the charcoal-colored pencils to blend the way I wanted them to. The pencils would not blend in all the way leaving some spots blended and some spots not. To overcome this challenge I made all of the colors a little darker so I could try and hide the unblinded spots.
