Lauren Burmeister“African Wild Dog”Dimensions: (“9 x 12”) Paper, Hot glue, Watercolor, Pencil, Oil Pastels, and Water.
The source of Inspiration I got from was the African Wild Dog, the reason why I took inspiration from this animal is because of how endangered these animals are. There are only 1,409 of these left, they are so pretty it would be sad to watch them go extinct. The process of my work is that I did I light sketch, once I did the light sketch I went over it with hot glue to make the line art-pop. When the Hot glue dried I put oil pastels to color it when it was all colored I bent the paper to have the batik effect, I rinsed it underwater and put black watercolor on it to show the crevices that I made in the artwork. A challenge I faced is when I put the white on the eyes to make them white, but I didn’t clean it or rub the access colors off of the white and it showed up, it looked really weird. But I just kept coloring and it looked way better after. This is the first time I ever colored with Oil Pastels, so I had to figure things out with it and how the colors worked, I made a couple of mistakes but once it was on, I couldn't do anything about it. When I put the black watercolor on, I think that it made the drawing really show a Botik effect. I would change how I wanted to draw the animal, I would’ve done a different pose then what I did.
