I wanted to do this because I knew that I could do flowers really well. Last semester I did a different flower painting and I liked that one and I knew my skills had improved so I decided to do a different flower painting. I found a picture on pinterest and really liked it so I decided I wanted to do blue because it is my favorite color and I knew I would like the painting more if I did that. I started by using a ruler to do the light blue square in the background, then once that was done I started on the stem of the flower. I did a rough sketch with my green paint of how I wanted it to look then I filled it in. Then I used a small brush and took the different shades of blue and pressed down on it with the paint brush to make the shape of the petal. I then did the yellow circles in the middle of the flowers. I then did the same thing with my brush to make the buds. The most challenging part was trying to figure out what size to do the flowers. I first started with smaller flowers then I made them bigger so it looked more even. I think if I could start over I would make the background lines cleaner and make the leaves a darker color. This painting would be a realistic painting. I love the way the flowers look and I love the size I picked for the flowers. I also really like the way the stems are shaped.

My aunt had recently moved to Indiana and she had just got a cat. I wanted to make her something that I would really like and something that would mean a lot to her. I knew that painting her cat would mean a lot to her. Last semester I did my dog as a painting and I knew that I could do animals really well so I knew that if I did this I would be able to do it really well. I first started by sketching out the cat and painting it my base layer of brown. Then I mixed more shades of browns to make the fur layers. To do the fur I used a small brush and made little line strokes, then I used a bigger brush and made the fur colors more patchy so it showed the dimension in the fur. I then started with the details of the eyes and the ears. I used the small brush again and made details in the eyes and the hairs in the ear. I wanted to show me and my aunt's relationship without just painting a picture of me and her. So when my aunt was back in town and brought her cat I took a picture and thought that would be a good representation of our relationship because I feel like me and her relationship is very similar to her relationship with her cat. I knew this painting would be really sentimental for her. I think the most difficult part was trying to get the colors of the fur right and get the layers right. If I started over I would make the fur less patchy and more like hair also I would make the whiskers skinnier. This would be a realistic painting with some abstract elements. I love the way the details in the eyes look and the way the small details in the ears look.

When picking an animal I knew I wanted to use an animal that I knew would challenge me but also be easy enough that I could complete. I found a picture of a tiger and I really liked how it looked. I have painted fur before so I knew it wouldn’t be that hard to do it. I started by sketching the graph and the outline of the tiger. I then filled in the tiger with a light gray as a base color. I then used a small brush to do the hair details on the body. Then once I finished that I started on the head. I first started with the ears and the main part of the face. I then did the outer border of the head with the same small brush and mixed a little water with the paint so I could make it look like thin fur. I think the most difficult part was trying to make the face look right and make the outline of the tiger look more accurate. I also wish I made the eyes and ears straighter. This painting is a realistic painting. I love the way the fur looks and the way the outline of the head looks.

For my finish line I just did the same painting as my baseline. I really liked how my baseline turned out and I did want to change it in any way. I first started with a ruler to make straight lines for the box in the background then I started on painting the stems and the leaves first. I then mixed different shades of blue to make the flowers, then went back and painted the flowers with the different shades of blue. Finally I added the yellow to the middle of each of the flowers.I think the most difficult part was making the leaves and flowers the right size and color. I really struggled with making the light blue that I used for the flowers to light and it mixing with the background. This is a realistic painting. I love the way the flowers and the leaves look. I also really like how the box is an actual square this time since I used a ruler and not just free hand the box.
