John Shadle "Baseline"
2022
My idea here was to get a nice little bowl. I don't really have many inspiration for it besides bowls i've seen. I just wanted to make sure my first project looked nice.
I molded the clay so that it's flat on the ground and then Istarted to mold up the sides of the bowl.
What I want my audience to think when they see this bowl is that I tried on my first project using clay
The most difficult part of the porject was getting the shape all right and even. If I would change one thing is that i'd make the shape more symmetircal and try to make it look nice.
This project is a realstic artpiece. I like using green and blue to color my projects so most of my projects are going to be gren and blue. What I love about this piece of art is that it actually looks like a decent looking bowl for being my first clay project
John Shadle "Pitcher"
2022
My idea here was to get a decent sized pitcher that is capable of holding liquid. It was inspired by other pitchers I've seen.
My process of doing this was molding the base of the pitcher to the right shape. And then using a frame to mold up the sides of my pitcher. I even got some texture cloth and gave it some texture, make it interesting.
This artwork is just a green pitcher i made. But what I do want my audience to think when they see this is that this pitcher is able to hold liquids and it is very reliable.
The thing that was the most difficult about this project was connecting the sides of the pitcher together and making the blending of them look decent. If I had to do it again i'd pay more attention to that part. And make sure the back of the pitcher is smooth.
What makes this artpiece so unique to my style is that it is green. I ussually only paint with green and blue. And, like my chip bowl, it has a nice flower petal pattern as it's texture.
John Shadle "Dip Bowl"
2022
My idea was to make a small, hand-sized bowl to put your dipping sauces in.
The process behind this was modeling the clay into a circular shape for the bottom and mold up the size to a small height, making sure the top of the sides are even.
What I want my audience to think when they see this dip bowl is that they have a nice, small and reliable bowl to keep their sauces in.
The most difficult thing for me was the shaping of the bowl. I had to make sure it wasn't bumpy and it was even.
This style fits with my style of green or blue, as well as my uneven sides. What I love about it is its simplicity.
John Shadle "Chip Bowl"
2022
My idea for this project was to make a giant bowl that was able to hold a bunch of chips. it was inspired by long and flat plates you'd see like meat and cheese spread out on at a thanksgiving dinner or something.
I used a wooden plate that I placed the clay into, so that I could move the clay around and shape it into a plate. I also used a texture cloth to give it some texture.
When people see this I want them to think that they can [ut as much chips as they want on this plate. As well as admire the imegary of the texture.
The most difficult part of this was the color. As im pretty sure i painted it red but it came out green. I think next time I'll put the name somehwere else so I can see it better.
This color fits with the blue and green theme i have going. I love that it is big and can hold a bunch of cips.
John Shadle "Wheel Evidence"
2022
my idea was to mold these up to looking like cups and bowls.
My process of doing this was getting the wheel to go a steady enough spee for me to keep my hands on the clay without slipping off or damaging it. And molding the sides of the cups and bowl up and making sure they were even.
What i want my audience to see when they see these uttensils is that they are good and reliable for keeping foods and liquids within them
The most difficult part about this process was keeping the wheel at the right speed to successfully mold up the shapes.
This style keeps up with my style of just green and blue. What I love about these three evidences is that they are mostly even and keeping up there shape.
